Is the Auto Duty Active?

Turning off Active stops future cycles from starting, though a cycle already in progress runs to completion. Open the Auto Duty and confirm its status. See Turning automation off mid-cycle.
2

Check the cadence and start day

Cycles start on the Weekly or Monthly cadence and start day configured in Basics. If today isn’t the configured start day, the cycle hasn’t been triggered yet.
3

Check whether a cycle is already in progress

Only one cycle runs per period. If one is already in progress, a new one for the same period won’t start — and won’t appear as an option for Start Manual Cycle either.
4

Was the cycle waiting on you?

If Generate duty plan automatically is off, the cycle sits in Availability & Leave until an admin selects Generate Duty Plan. It won’t move to Generate on its own. See The 5 stages.
5

Was the cycle Cancelled?

A cancelled cycle doesn’t generate or publish, and it doesn’t restart itself — a new manual cycle is needed for that period. See Cancelling a cycle.
6

Did it fail instead of not running?

A Failed cycle did run, but couldn’t produce a valid schedule. Check the failure reason on the cycle page — see If generation fails.
